IMPLEMENTATION GUIDE

The Book It! program was designed as a way for you to inspire students to read. The program runs for six months; from October to March 31st. For each month, you will establish a reading goal to be met by each student. This could be by the number of books, chapters, or pages read or by the number of minutes spent reading. For those too young or unable to read, you can set your goals based on parents or caregivers reading aloud to the student. In the teachers’ section of www.bookitprogram.com, you will find goal setting tips for specific age groups.

Monthly Rewards!

The monthly reward is simple and effective. When the student meets their monthly reading goal, you will issue him/her one pizza certificate. Please fill out the required information on the back of the certificate (date, student name school and teacher signature) before the student takes it home. The certificate is valid for one free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza from any of our 13 Pizza Huts in Winnipeg, Selkirk, Steinbach and Portage. There is no purchase required and the pizza may be taken to go. Please remember that certificates will only be honoured one at a time and that they are to be issued for reading accomplishments only.

Classroom

We provide you with a Book It! poster to help decorate your classroom. We include some additional resources - Book Review form, Story Sequence form and Story map. You may choose to make copies of these items for use in your version of the program.

U.S. Website
